Klassic training in dressage




      "He's gorgeous!"

      The pale stud was led out of the barn tacked out in shiny new dressage attire, head held high and proud as he assessed the training arena for the first time. Jamie and Aamir leaned against the fence admiring the stable's latest purchase, while a far smaller woman sat perched on the top rail.

      "If he wasn't so damn refined you'd think he was an Andy," whistled Aamir, running his trained eye over the stallion's fluid movements. "Just look at that crest!"

      "Bet you boys wish you weren't so tall now," she remarked, smug.

      Jamie scowled. "I don't know what you're looking so pleased about; you're not riding him either."

      Pip huffed. "I know." She was made for going fast and high, not slow and carefully. "But at least I can ride him without looking like a great oaf."

      Two more women came and joined them at the fence as Gandalf's rider swung quickly into the saddle and had him moving forward around the arena. The three threw a startled glance at the new comers; a mildly amused looking Lottie and a deeply displeased Adriane.

      "If you're out here," murmured Aamir, "Then who's in there?"

      The small crowd once again looked to the arena and the stunning pale grey as he moved through his paces. But unlike before, all eyes were drawn to the slim woman ushering him into a beautiful collected trot.
