Because I think people need a serious wake up call.

Anyone who knows me knows I take a while to judge things. Gosh Rae, you're so slow! Why you suck so much? Personally, I'd much rather that someone judging something for me took their time. I'd much rather they really considered all aspects of my entry and others, rather than just taking a glance and picking a superficial winner. They might miss some aspect of my bid / artwork / entry that placed it ahead of others. And I certainly wouldn't pester them to judge things faster. No, then they might begin to feel resentment at being rushed, irritated, and rush ahead or skip over my entry altogether because they think that someone that pushy doesn't deserve the same deliberation and attention of those who are patient about the process.

Now, I personally don't do these things, because I'm a (relatively) patient human being. That said, there are definite limits on my patience. If I'm receiving comments that are code for "Just hurry up already" I'm far more inclined to just say "Screw it, I'll do something else. Clearly people need to learn patience themselves". It certainly doesn't put me in the mindset to read dozens of detailed stories, trawl through galleries to compare artworks or set me in the right frame of the mind to be forgiving to an entry's shortcomings. If this were real life and you told a judge of an art competition - who held the fate of your blood, sweat and tears in their hands - to hurry it up a little, they'd simply look at your piece in passing (if you were lucky) and move on to other entries.

Patience and etiquette people.
